Garden Cube
A Calaboration with Butch Anthony, Spring 2004

The garden cube began with Butch wanting to build a Garden Shed, but he said he wanted something funky. “I don’t want another one of those square buildings.”  I responded by saying, “why don’t we make a cube.”  The idea caught on.  We spent a few days coming up with how to build it, how it would open, and what would clad it.  Butch Built the frame out of 1-1/4” steel tubing, and I applied the cladding which was a stack of road signs he found on the side of the road.  The construction took four days.  The cube comes apart in 6 panels, which are held together by carriage bolts, and can fit on the back of a small trailer.  In addition to it being his garden shed, he used it as his display tent at Kentuck, the largest art festival in the South.
